Doctor Appointments & Bereavement
Residents are allowed to attend physician appointments if they are not assigned to a clinical activity or if there is no concurrent academic activity scheduled. All requests for physician appointments must be communicated to the Chief Resident as soon as possible so appropriate clinic coverage can be ensured.
Keep in mind that doctor appointment visit ½ days do count towards resident administrative totals for the year.
Residents with a death in the immediate family may take up to three (3) days bereavement leave upon the request to their supervisor. Immediate family members are spouse, children, mother, father, siblings (half and step), grandparents, grandchildren, in-laws and any other relative who lives in the family household.
